If you have the Iphone 3g and want it to work with T-Mobile this is possilbe! The most current updates to date on the Iphone 3g are the following: Version 2.2.1(5H11) and Modem Firmware 02.30.03.
You must know that if your ipgone 3g has updated to the latest Firmware 2.30.03 it CANNOT be unlocked with the Software hack.
You wil need to get a Rebel Simcard to hack the phone on the T-Mobile network. You can still Jailbreak your phone, and the software that I have used in the past has been QwkPawn. You have to order the Rebel Simcard online, since it is not something that is likely to be sold in stores.
I have heard that there are still some glitches with the cards, and that you have to reset the simcard in another T-Mobile phone from time to time to keep the connection alive on the iphone. But using the iphone with T-mobile service is worth it.
Hopefully the iphone Dev team will release another version of yellowsn0w that will work with the latest firmware of the iphone 3g.
NOTE: downgrading the version to a prior version will not undo the Firmware update. You cannot restore the firmware to the previous 2.28.03.
