I recently came across this plugin for Firefox that lets you have the facebook status feed on the left of your web browser, as well as a toolbar in the top of the browser. It is great for keeping an eye on your Facebook notifications without being distracted by being on the entire website. Here is an example of my Firefox window with the Facebook sidebar that shows the status of my friends.

The Facebook Toolbar for Firefox is a free extension for Firefox that lets you extend your Facebook experience into your everyday browsing.

Note: Firefox pop-up blocker might prevent the download box from opening. To fix this, follow the directions below:

Look at the message at the top of your browser that says “Firefox has prevented this site from asking to install software…” At the far right corner there is an “Options” button.

Click on the “Options” button to see the “Allow Sites” pop-up.

Click “Allow” on the site developers.facebook.com and close the popup.

Click the download button again to install the toolbar.

I have recently come across a plugin for Mozilla Firefox that lets you have a start page with multiple choices. It is very similar to the start page of Opera, and Safari.

The concept is that there are 9 slots on the page and it fills those 9 spaces with the most viewed websites that you go to. However, you can set these to never change if you don’t want them to dynamically change with your web history.

For example, I have set my speed dial start page to include my Gmail, and blog URLs, and told them never to change. This is great because instead of having multiple tabs open when I load Firefox, every new page, or new tab opens my speed dial page. Then I can choose what websites I want to go to very quickly.

I have included a screen shot of my own speed dial so that you can get an idea of how I am using this for myself.
